2026 Prestige Super-B Trailer

on , in Company News by Lode King Lode King

Farmers and commercial operators have trusted Lode King’s Prestige steel hopper-bottom trailers for over 24 years. The Prestige line-up can be built in configurations to suit both the farming community, where yard space and field approaches are a factor, and commercial operators who need a longer, high-volume trailer that can be used in all North American jurisdictions.

With innovative updates like stainless steel gates, aluminum ladders, and enhanced lighting, these hoppers are built for durability and efficiency.

Ladder System

The first significant change we have implemented is the adoption of the same ladder system used on the Distinction series trailer. This system features a rectangular aluminum tubing structure with aluminum rungs. The ladder is slope-mounted to allow for easier access to the trailer. On the B-train, all four ladders will have the same design.

At the rear of the trailer, one notable change is the redesigned ladder system. A fold-down ladder has been introduced, which is the same as every ladder used in the Distinction series. This ladder features a low entry point and an angled configuration for improved accessibility and ease of climbing. When not in use, the ladder folds away.

Landing Gear

The standard landing gear available on the Renown series trailer is the Holland Mark V landing gear. An optional feature to save on weight is the aluminum Jost landing gear with a galvanized insert on the lower leg.

Chute Gate

A significant enhancement to the Prestige series trailer is redesigning the chute gate. While maintaining its original dimensions of 16″ × 24″, the design has been upgraded from the previous chain and sprocket mechanism to a rack-and-pinion system supported by rollers. This new design also includes a replaceable Teflon wear strip. The chute gate is now fully constructed of stainless steel, and it matches the design used on the Distinction series trailer.

Paint Process

When the trailer enters the paint shop, it undergoes a phosphate wash to eliminate residual oils. The entire trailer receives a steel shot blast to seal all welds properly. The next step is the zinc coating, followed by a urethane primer. After these steps, the trailer undergoes an inspection before receiving its final topcoat. We offer various color options for the topcoat and customizable striping packages.

Optional Features

We now offer optional lighting features to indicate or show the bottom of the hoppers in the dark. These include a set of lights to illuminate the bottom of the hoppers and an additional pair of interior lights inside the hoppers, providing a clear view of the load in low-light conditions.

Lighting

This year, one of the key updates is the transition back to rectangular indicator lights, replacing the previous oval center indicator lights.

We have also improved the top-row lighting. The small two-inch lights have been replaced with larger, brighter oval lights. Additionally, we’ve moved to a three-center light design, which is a high-mount brake light and is standard across all lighting packages available for this trailer. The turn signals are also integrated into the top rail. The intent behind this was to create a safer environment for vehicles following the trailer and to aid in reducing the risk of rear-end collisions.

On the bottom rail, we’ve introduced an aluminum box cover to house the lights, replacing the previous steel bolster for a cleaner and more durable solution. For added security, an optional anti-theft ring is available to replace the standard rubber gasket or insert. This feature is offered for both the top and bottom lights.

Fenders

At the rear of the lead trailer, we have updated the fender mounts. The previous tube-style mount, prone to collecting rocks and stone chipping, has been replaced. In its place, we now use a stainless steel mounting bracket that attaches to a stub shaft–a standard feature on all our half-round fenders. The flat aluminum fender remains available as a fender option, while the half-round fenders are in black poly material or stainless steel.

Between the second and third axle is a stainless steel fender mount. Along with the stainless steel fender mount, an aluminum close-out has been added to prevent debris from flowing between the two fenders. New for this year is the addition of a mud flap on the lead and second axle, again to minimize debris flying around on the trailer.

Suspension and Wheel Options

We offer several different Hendrickson Intraax suspensions. Standard on all Prestige hopper trailers is the Henrickson Intraxx 23K Suspension.

The Hendrickson TIREMAAX Pro Inflation System is an excellent option for improved tire life. This system ensures all tires remain at a consistent pressure.

Tarp Hood Vents

Another enhancement is the addition of tarp hood vents, identical to those used on all Distinction Series trailers. Each tarp hood features a vent at both the front and rear to stay up and out of the way. This design eliminates the need for sidewall vents. On the top of the trailer, a vent is mounted at the rear, directly above the lights.

Airlines

Another improvement is in the catwalk between the two trailers. The airlines now run beneath the trailer, eliminating the tripping hazard that could be a possibility in the walkway.

Fifth Wheel

The fifth wheel has been upgraded to a Holland bolt-in design, allowing for easier maintenance and replacement. If an issue arises, the fifth wheel can be easily removed and replaced by simply unbolting it, installing a new one, and resuming operations with minimal downtime.

Trailer Tarps

The tarps available across the entire Prestige line are supplied by Michels. We also offer optional features for convenience, including the option of a power tarp for effortless opening and closing, as well as a chute opener.
